Scripture Corner. This week we start on the Book of Judges, beginning with the first five chapters.. This book covers the period from the death of Joshua to the coming of Samuel, roughly 300 years. An unsettled period, it tells of the struggle to conquer the promised land . The recurrent theme is of Israelites worshipping the local pagan gods, usually Baal, God then punishing them by allowing their enemies to oppress them; the Israelites calling on God for mercy and he sends a leader or judge to rescue them from their enemies. Either read in Church on Thursday evening at 7 pm, or at home with family and friends . Reading Sacred Scripture with faith and devotion is always a prayer.

Please remember the sick in the parish : Bill Beggs, Gemma Nicol, Ann Murray. Mgr Ken McCaffrey, Frances Brown, Catherine Lynch, Yvonne Campbell , others who are suffering in any way , and the house–bound.
